NEWBORN SUSPENDERS AND BOW TIE PATTERN


MATERIALS REQUIRED:

Yarn: DK or Worsted

Knitting Needles: 6mm (US 10)

Sewing needle

Scissors

Tape Measure/ Ruler Buttons: 2 X 2cm Buttons (Try to get the wood looking buttons)

SIZING: New-born

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

ABBREVIATIONS:

K= Knit

P= Purl

St= stitch

RS= Right side

WS= Wrong side

Rep= Repeat

Ribbing : Knit 1 stitches, Purl 1 stitches to the end of the row. Stocking stitch= one row plain, one row purl

K2tog = knit two stitches together

INSTRUCTIONS: Using 6mm knitting needles, cast on 36 stitches Back of the pants Ribbed edge: Knit 5 rows (k1, P1) ribbing. Continue knitting in stocking stitch (one row plain, one row purl) for another 20 rows Then you will need to split and only knit 18 stitches for another 25 rows (Stocking Stitch) Then knit those 18 Stitches with ribbed edge for 5 Rows (Ribbing) Then Knit and Bind Off the last Row Now knit the Other 18 Left on your needle the same way you knit the first 18: 18 stitches for another 25 rows (Stocking Stitch) Then knit those 18 Stitches with ribbed edge for 5 Rows (Ribbing) Then Knit and Bind Off the last Row

Front of the Pants For the Front of the Pants you will need to make button holes in the 3rd row of Ribbing: Ribbed edge: Knit 2 rows (k1, P1) ribbing. In the 3rd row make Button holes after 10 Stiches (you will need to decide how many Stitches you want to skip depending on the size of your button) I skipped 2 stitches - I used 2cm Buttons. You will need to make a button hole in the 24th Stitch again. Knit 2 rows (k1, P1) ribbing. In total you should have knit 5 Rows Ribbing

Please see video below for info on button hole stitches https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TozHi8j2K6Y Continue knitting in stocking stitch (one row plain, one row purl) for another 20rows Then you will need to split and only knit 18 stiches for another 25 rows (Stocking Stich) Then knit those 18 Stiches with ribbed edge for 5 Rows (Ribbing) Then Knit and Bind Off the last Row Now knit the Other 18 Left on your needle the same way you knit the first 18: 18 stitches for another 25 rows (Stocking Stitch) Then knit those 18 Stitches with ribbed edge for 5 Rows (Ribbing) Then Knit and Bind Off the last Row Sew the pants together with your tapestry needle with the right sides facing. Suspenders You will need to pick up 4 stitches on the back of the pants where the button hole are place in you front pants. Knit these 4 stitches for 100 Rows Then sew buttons on the suspenders. Bow Tie Cast On 11 stitches Knit Stocking Stitch Until until work reaches 15.cm or 6 inches, then bind off. Lay bow tie on a flat surface and bring the two ends together. You can have the purled side or the knit side of the work showing for your finished look. Stitch the two ends together using the tail. Fold bow tie in half then use the yarn tail to sew the middle together Fold the top side of down toward the middle, and sew together Knit Middle Piece: Cast On 5 sts. Knit stocking Stitch until work measures 6.5cm, (2.5 Inches). B/O and lay across top of bow tie. Neck Band: Cast on 20 Stitches: Knit for 3 Rows Then sew middle piece together on the backside with the Neck band in place. Sew in any loose ends
